The Brain Campaign is a joint venture between IBRO (the International Brain Research Organization), DABI (the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives), SfN (the Society for Neuroscience), EDAB (the European Dana Alliance for the Brain) and FENS (the Federation of European Neuroscience Associations). Increasing public awareness world wide in regard to the contributions
made by brain research and its application to human diseases is its primary goal.

| Brain Awarness Week in Osogbo, Nigeria, reached large and varied audiences |

A series of events - including lectures, an essay contest and a quiz - were organised by the neurology unit of the department of medicine of the College of Health Sciences of LAUTECH Osogbo on March 15 and 16, 2010. About 256 participants were in attendance, including secondary school students; medical, nursing and medical laboratory students; and interns and resident staff of the teaching hospital.

| Brain Awareness Week in Zaria, Nigeria, focused on “Epilepsy and Neuroscience” |

More than 500 people from the area attended the lectures and exhibitions during Brain Awareness Week in Zaria, Nigeria, successfully helping to expand relations between Ahmadu Bello University and the community, especially with the school children. In one village, the organizers campaigned against the stigmatization of people with epilepsy. |

| Sleep and Health were topics of BAW held in Nigeria |

The brain awareness week (BAW), organized by the Ile-Ife Chapter (SFN), drew 255 participants. The theme of the program was SLEEP and HEALTH and sub-theme on epilepsy (drama by Nursery and Primary Pupils). |

| Your Brain, Your Power - Increasing Awareness in Nigeria |

 The events for the week were organised to enlighten people about the various functions of the brain. It encouraged
participants to engage in activities that stimulate and develop their
brains and to avoid drug abuse because it is harmful to not only their
bodies, but their brains as well. |

 Who am I?
A collection of fixed brains from a range of species (sheep, guinea pig, rat, mouse, fat-tailed dunnart, lizard, goldfish, seahorse) was presented with posters highlighting similarities and differences. Brain shape and size were discussed with children in simple evolutionary and ecological contexts.
Just one of the many activities held during Brain Awareness Week.
