Brain Campaign Funding Call for Applications

Since 2004, the Brain Campaign has provided small grants to assist groups organizing public education events to promote public understanding of the brain in IBRO’s Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions. Grants are given for up to 500 euros (or up to 1000 euros if 500 euros are for the printing costs of our Brain Education Booklet).

The competition for funding for Brain Awareness Week (BAW) events has a deadline of December 31 of the prior year for receipt of applications. Please allow 6-8 weeks for your application to be reviewed and for the funds to be made available.

However, applications for other events can be considered at any time throughout the year, allowing 6-8 weeks for a decision to be made. Applicants should download the application form and send it to Prof. Elspeth McLachlan.

Application Guidelines:

1. Awards are for events to be held in the IBRO Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions only. Similar schemes are available from SfN and FENS to provide support for events to be held in the USA and Europe (including Eastern Europe), respectively.

2. In general, you may request up to 500 euros (or up to 1000 euros if 500 euros are for the printing costs of our Brain Education Booklet). Requests for larger amounts are rarely granted.

3. You will need to justify how money provided by the Brain Campaign will be spent and provide details of other sources of funding.

In 2007, the Brain Campaign asked for volunteers to help us provide a multilingual public education resource that could be used to support public education initiatives on the brain worldwide. The booklet “Neuroscience: The Science of the Brain” has now been translated into several different languages.

The Brain Campaign is providing a new opportunity for groups who wish to make hard copies of this material available during their brain education event. The booklet can be printed in its entirety or specific sections may be used.

The booklet is available on-line.
